The job as a paint mixer/technician
What does the job of a technician involve?
My task is to handle customer inquiries and recommend, mix, and deliver complete paint systems for treating various types of objects. I do everything from mixing lacquer for cars and paint for spray cans to mixing 1000-liter containers of house paint.
Describe a typical workday
We work very independently, with many customer meetings both on-site and over the phone. We often have close dialogues with customers to determine their needs and what external factors might affect the object being painted. Then, we mix and prepare customer deliveries for the next day.
What is the most rewarding aspect of the job?
The challenge of finding the right system and products for each individual project is what drives me the most! And seeing the customer satisfied with a sustainable solution in the end.
How did you find your way to the profession?
I was offered a different position within the company, but I was doing my military service at the time, so it didn’t work out. When this position came up, I was contacted again and the timing was better. That was 17 years ago, and I’ve learned a lot along the way.
Who would you recommend for the job?
Someone who is passionate about helping customers and delivering excellent results! It's not always obvious which paint system is needed, so you need to be curious and interested in the object to be painted. It also helps to have an interest in construction and an understanding of how materials are affected by external factors such as weather, wind, and water.
